Goodbye 2008! Part 2

This is advertising gold. It also managed to escape even my viral eye…
Created by Saatchi & Saatchi… I don’t think I need to say anything, just press play again!
Another advert which, despite my refusal to get involved in PC/Mac debates, did tickle a few ribs. Mostly because I do whole heartedly agree and that Vista does indeed suck!
But, by far my biggest ‘miss’ of 2008 was the infinitely brilliant satire Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog. This totally passed my radar. Still questioning how that was possible!
It took me all of about hmmm… 30 seconds to fall in love with it. Neil Patrick Harris (best known as a child prodigy in Doogie Hauser) plays a not so horrible Dr Horrible with a PHD in Horribleness.
“The world is a mess,” he says. “And I just need to rule it.”
This made-for-the-internet musical sees Dr Horrible seeking to rule the world and win the girl of his dreams, with a freeze ray!!!
Joss Whedon created the 45 minute mini-musical along with brothers Zack and Jed and fiancée Maurissa Tancharoen. Seeking “something to do” during the writers’ strike, the quadruplet hit upon the fact that the WGA (Writers Guild of America) didn’t expressly prohibit writing content for the internet. Thus giving birth to Dr Horrible and his aspiring super-villain mission to join the Evil League of Evil. The story centres around Billy and his alter-ego Dr Horrible, his arch nemesis Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion best known as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in *sob sob* the much missed Firefly) and his mission to win the heart of Penny, a volunteer for the Caring Hands Homeless Shelter.

So that rounds up what I missed in 2008, what I will remember from what I missed in 2008.
