Having met in ’space rock outfit’ Ozric Tentacles both Merv and Joie were drawn to the electronic sounds of the then early days of the ‘rave’ scene. Legitimately claiming to be one of the UK’s first live techno outfits they always intended on being just that – a live act!
‘Shelly’, along with their kick drum, shakers and guitar resulted from a decision to jack in the ‘normal’ life and become a full-time band. Married couple Ruth & Brookln Dekker moved out, sold up and hit the road. That was back just in March 2008. They forged forward scheduling a 20 date European tour which boasted sell out concerts in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.
But the solo expedition was a new venture and was herded on by the release of the EP ‘A Year Worth Forgetting’. This got him established with tour dates up-and down the west coast of the States. By 2006 he’d moved to Los Angeles recorded and released a 2nd EP ‘Antique Scars’, which opened additional doors through Arizona and the Midwest for further touring.
Then it would seem the Duloks gave their sweaty-sweatbands time to dry, but only to enforce some structural changes afterwhich the band released their Mini LP ‘Children of the Sea’.
Thieves Like Us came together in Berlin in 2002. A concoction of a couple of a Swedes and a Yank who found solace with each other as they struggled with foreign languages and culture.
Recently Fracture became a two-piece electro-rock project. Joining Ralph Zeimet to tread the music stage boards was Sebastien Laas – formally of Karma Lounge (L) and guitarist of Cyclorama (L).
One part mellow folk and one part indie-pop and you’re pretty much understanding the basis of this outfits outputs.
Sinner DC have quietly built a solid reputation for themselves, both as a live act and a dependable cd/lp purchase. The trio from Geneva, Switzerland have already won favourable reviews in media across Europe for latest release ‘Crystallized’.
